| Biography | Education and outreach will be the focus of Dr. David F. Bahr, professor, chair and director of undergraduate research at Washington State University, for the Northwest Advanced Renewables Alliance. Dr. Bahr, who holds the Lindholm Chair in Metallurgy, Mechanical and Materials Engineering at WSU, is an active researcher in the study of micromechanical behavior of materials. Since 1999, he has supervised Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) at WSU, and in 2006, was named director of these programs. During his tenure as director, WSU has expanded the REU sites it hosts from one to six, the largest number of REU sites in the Northwest. Dr. Bahr has been recognized for both his research and teaching at WSU. In 2004, he received the Outstand Teaching Faculty Award for the WSU College of Engineering and Architecture. Five years later, the college named him the recipient of the Anjan Bose Outstanding Research Award. He earned his Ph.D. in materials science from the University of Minnesota in 1997. |
